Our barn is built of post-and-beam construction and dates to around the late 19th century. It had been used as a dairy barn during the 20th century. The structure features both hand- and machine-milled lumber with some hewing marks indicating timbers that possibly date to the Revolutionary War era.
Barns are living, breathing works-in-progress and their maintenance and upkeep are never-ending. But like a patchwork quilt, they can tell a story about the people and traditions from which they were made. The barn has been stabilized and a full restoration is set to begin in November 2022. Once restored the barn will be used to house our farm animals.
