THIS EVENT IS FREE!

Join Button Farm as we celebrate our annual Maryland Emancipation Day Event in commemoration of the day in 1864 when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War. The program will feature speakers, self-guided tours of the farm’s museum garden and animal pens.  Snacks and cider provided!

Button Farm originally obtained these geese to help weed our garden and grounds, but soon discovered they were too good at their job and also weeded out herbs and vegetables for the garden!

The geese are now allowed to roam the farm throughout the day. The flock grows every year, with up to three new goslings added to the family annually. The white geese are males and the grey “saddlebacks” are female.
