 Join Button Farm as we celebrate our annual Maryland Emancipation Day Event in commemoration of the day in 1864 when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War. The program will feature speakers, self-guided tours of the farm’s museum garden and animal pens.  Snacks and cider provided!

Heritage Days2022

Enjoy Heritage Days Weekend and explore fascinating sites that help make Montgomery County great! Button Farm will be open Saturday and Sunday, June 25 & 26, from 12 PM - 4 PM and will be hosting some special attractions including:

  • Those Before Us—(Saturday, June 25th) performance and workshop, by New York-based ensemble Rebis, that will present a story of the Underground Railroad through a multi-media experience.
  • Circle Process—(Saturday, June 25th) interactive dialog, on the meaning of freedom, led by Venetia Bailey and Cathy Roberts of Coming to the Table.
  • A Culinary History of Montgomery County, MD—(Sunday, June 26th) book signing and presentation by Claudia Kousoulas and Ellen Letourneau about our county’s food traditions.
