Mother's Day Celebration
12:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Button Farm is honored to welcome Montgomery County Executive, Marc Elrich, as our esteemed guest for this event, as he presents a proclamation marking May 13th, 2023 as Tubman Journey to Freedom Day in Montgomery County.
Ranger Crenshaw will discuss Tubman’s early years spent in Dorchester County, Maryland; her skills as an outdoorswoman, her time conducting freedom-seekers on the Underground Railroad, and her later years spent as a suffragette.
Tip your hat to powerful women at this Mother’s Day Celebration. Tap your feet to Capitol Tap and their new dance performance about Harriet Tubman’s coded Underground letter.
Treat your kids to Storytime with local author Lesley Younge reading from her new book A-Train Allen and discover how a young boy goes on a journey to find a grandmother’s love. Tour the Journey to Freedom statue to uncover its special symbolism depicting the woman known as “Mother Harriet” to generations of admirers.
