At Button Farm Living History Museum
On June 25th, 2022, you are invited to explore the history of the Underground Railroad in Montgomery County through Those Before Us: Button Farm, an interactive audio-immersive performance and workshop featuring performances by Washington Revels Jubilee Voices and Baakari Wilder.
Those Before Us: Button Farm explores the story of a freedom seeker escaping on the Underground Railroad, bringing his distant memories to life through site-specific performance, song, and movement at the historic Button Farm Living History Center.
This performance is included as a part of Heritage Days, a FREE festival highlighting historic, cultural, and outdoor recreation sites.
Those Before Us: Button Farm is produced by Rebis, a New York City-based immersive experience company in collaboration with the Menare Foundation and Underground Railroad historian Anthony Cohen. The Menare Foundation, Inc. is supported in part by funding from the Montgomery County Government and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Additional support is provided by Heritage Montgomery, Button Farm Living History Center, Washington Revels Jubilee Voices, San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company, and Inheritance Project.
The performance begins at 2:00 PM EST and runs for 60 minutes. A 60-minute optional Inheritance Project workshop follows the performance.
Please reserve your ticket for the performance here.
