Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Resident Curatorship ProgramPioneered in 1982, the Maryland Resident Curatorship Program offers lucky Curators the right to lifetime tenancy in an historic property in exchange for restoring it, maintaining it in good condition, and periodically sharing it with the public. From the mountain regions of Western Maryland to Assateague Island, the program has nearly 50 Curatorships in operation, each offering a special glimpse into Maryland’s rich history. |

Maryland Department of Natural Resources: Seneca Creek State ParkThe park, comprised of 6,300 acres, extends along 14 scenic miles of Seneca Creek, as it winds its way to the Potomac River. The Clopper Day-Use Area contains many scenic areas, including the 90-acre Clopper Lake, surrounded by forests and fields. Picnicking, boat rentals, trails and a tire playground are just some of its recreational opportunities. A restored 19th century cabin and a self-guided path interpret the history of the area. Over 50 miles of trails are open for hiking, horseback riding and bicycling which wind through a variety of habitat. |

Farm Tour and Celebration
Join us at Button Farm for our annual Maryland Emancipation Day Event in commemoration of the day in 1864, when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War. The program features speakers, self-guided tours of the farm, music and farm animals. Snacks and cider are provided!
